Hello, thank you for reading my letter! I'm wafflelate A few notes:
- I'm a slow commenter, so please don't panic if it takes awhile for me to comment.
- Some things will have more prompts than others but that doesn't mean I want anything more or less than anything else.
- Although I try to provide a lot of prompts please don't feel like you need to write one of them! I think prompts make it easier to see where I'm coming from/how I'm approaching the tag, but this letter is not a final summation of all the fic plots I could possibly enjoy. Whatever you come up with will be great!
DNWs
- Suicide, suicidal ideation, mentions of suicide, implied suicide, the word suicide
- You may find yourself in a situation where you're writing, say, one character staying behind to fight so that their teammates can escape. Please focus on their determination to save their comrades, live as long as possible, and maybe just maybe succeed without dying no matter how slim the chances are.
- Or, since I've requested Hidan and probably mentioned Jashinists and time loops, you might find yourself writing a character who seeks/experiences temporary death to achieve some goal. Temporary character death is fine, but please have them killed by other people rather than killing themselves.
- examples include characters not feeling real, not feeling connected to their body, feeling like they're viewing a scene from the third person while someone else moves their body.
- Exceptions to the above:
- obviously there are canon characters who can do that kind of thing to themselves/other people because of their cool powers.
- characters having a literal out-of-body experience because of magic ninja bullshit is fine.
- characters literally not being in control of their bodies because of magic ninja bullshit is fine.
- Aging up so everyone is over 18 is fine. Relationships between two people roughly the same age is fine, like a 17 and 19 year old. Minors having unrequited crushes on adults is fine. References to teenagers being sexually active in teenager-typical ways is fine, but I’d rather not get explicit sex scenes. For scenarios in which two adults knew each other when one was a minor, I'd prefer not to have direct references to the possibility that anything could've happened then, even if it's to emphasize that the younger adult is an adult now.
- So, no to: mundane AUs, IN SPACE AUs, fantasy AUs, soulmate AUs, etc, unless directly requested.
- But yes to: canon divergence, alternate timelines, For Want Of A Nail
- Nara Shikako having her reincarnation status revealed
- Nara Shikako being pregnant or having sex even off screen.
- Nara Shikako being forced into marriage. It's fine if she just thinks it's the best of several solutions she'd be unhappy about, as long as she had a chance to leave or refuse but decided it would be better to go along with it.
- Incorporating significant chunks of Boruto stuff.

Dreaming of Sunshine - Silver Queen
Mitarashi Anko/Yamashiro Aoba (DoS)
I ship this very hard based off of them drunkenly following Shikako around and also Anko's totally heartwrenching talk about them depending on each other behind enemy lines and please I am dying for literally anything with this rarepair. He's really social and she's really isolated! She's frequently under suspicion of being a traitor and he's extremely popular, trusted, and well-liked! Both of them do very well under Tsunade! I'm overwhelmed with feelings. I'd love something set in the past or something set in an AU where Aoba lives.
My bar for things being "shippy enough" is really low — I will take pre-relationship UST whatever very happily! — but I also wouldn't mind something overtly romantic/sexual. I'd prefer they both be at least 18 for anything that implies they're having sex, but I don't mind them getting married earlier than that or the age gap between them being focused on!

- I'd enjoy Aoba and Anko being strangers or being friends before being married!
- I would love an emphasis on ninja sneakiness and Aoba's gossip network and intel ninja things.
Momochi Zabuza/Terumi Mei (DoS)
Canon really really made me ship this and I am FASCINATED by all of the potential political and personal complications that could come with this marriage, especially in a place like Kiri! Some of these freeforms would absolutely go along with their canon marriage and I would extremely enjoy a look at that, but others would definitely imply a canon divergence...which I would also enjoy!
Overall I think what I love most about this ship is that the both of them are really, really committed to Kiri and want to change it for the better and have their own ideas for how to do that...and they decide to do it together. It would have been SO easy for them to be enemies, especially considering Zabuza's reputation, but instead they work together!! And get married!!!! I could swoon.

- I would love any of these interpretations of their relationship: friends, casual lovers, enemies, wary allies, secretly in love with each other but also sure the other might murder them for political ambitions...
- When I selected them I was thinking the tags about criminals/executions would be great for Mei saving Zabuza, but if you want to do some kind of AU that's the other way around that'd be amazing. The idea of Mei being a traitor who gets married to Swordsman-Of-The-Mist Zabuza and is surprised to find out that he also hates the establishment...perfect....
- I cannot stress how much I would love tense Kiri politics. The lack of trust! The worries about back-stabbing! The ulterior motives upon ulterior motives!
- I think life debts could be really meaningful in Kiri, given how little they seem to emphasize supporting and trusting your teammates! I still think it'd have to be a pretty OTT life-saving to qualify, but still.
Nara Shikaku/Nara Yoshino (DoS)
The mom and dad ship!!! :DDD Silver Queen did a really wonderful job outlining the basics of how and why they got together in that sidestory, but I crave more. I'm interested in social consequences and Nara clan worldbuilding and also ROMANCE. I'd love to see more of what things were like for Shikaku and Yoshino at the end of the Third War, pre-kids, and maybe something about Shikaku becoming jōnin commander.

Prompts:
- Literally anything about Shikaku breaking up the betrothal. Who did he tell first? Did Yoshino know he was supposed to have an arranged marriage to someone else?
- Shikaku being totally and completely unashamed of having married the woman he loves.
- Yoshino settling into the clan once Shikaku has to go back and be clan head. Was anyone nice to her? Who was non-nice? What kind of mistakes did Yoshino make stemming from her unfamiliarity with the way clans work? Did any of this cause problems in their marriage?
- Yoshino having a great time with Shikaku but being 100% sure that he'd never ever be serious about her...right up until he asks her to marry him. Maybe she thinks it's a joke. Maybe she thinks it's more about rebelling against his clan and less about her and turns him down the first time. So many delicious options!
- While obviously Shikaku coming down like a ton of bricks either politically or lethally on someone threatening Yoshino would be amazing, I would also LOVE to see Yoshino save Shikaku instead! Especially if it was from some kind of political intrigue. For this freeform, I'd even be interested in something that takes place around or after current DoS canon — like maybe Yoshino and the police moms discover some kind of Danzō-related threat to Shikaku or something! But as always something set when they're younger would be cool, too, and I'd just love to see Yoshino be a big damn hero who can hit people real hard with rocks and whatever.
Nara Shikako & Senju Tobirama (DoS)
I think that Shikako and Tobirama both possess some really similar personality traits, like... ruthlessness and wanting to fix/invent things where they see a need. On the other hand, Shikako is... charismatic? Friendly? so they've definitely had really wildly different experiences. One of my favorite moments for Shikako's ruthlessness is when she kills the Sound team in the Forest of Death because it was easy and it would make herself and her team safe and she just didn't think the cost of their lives was worth the risk to her and Naruto and Sasuke's life. I think that that kind of calculous over taking a life probably isn't the kind of thing Tobirama has ever had space for in his life, at least not until the village is founded, so... I guess I'd just like anything where Shikako's ethics run up against Tobirama's pragmatic, horrific Warring Clans Era experience, because I think that they might fundamentally disagree on principles but still reach an immediate and obvious-to-them agreement on whatever the practical matter at hand is?
In terms of a marriage specifically, I think Tobirama is an interesting choice for a platonic because marrying him would certainly come with its perks (political power, etc) while also allowing them both to hang with someone who shares their interests! I also think there's a chance that Tobirama's just as uninterested in marriage as Shikako which would make them having to get married very interesting.
In terms of logistics, time travel or further reincarnation would be fine! I would prefer time travel to the past instead of Tobirama traveling forward. I'd also definitely be interested in them being close(r) to the same age, but since it's a platonic marriage I suppose it doesn't matter much.

- Life debts!!!! Saving the life of someone who's not your clanmate is probably a big deal in the WCE so I'd love to see something about that.
- Time traveling Shikako would just be so weird, so I'd love to see Tobirama make some incorrect assumptions about what the source of that weirdness is.
- Either of them settling into a new clan, into the village, or into the time period.
- Both of them are quite the catch as spouses! I think they and their clans would both benefit, especially because Shikako probably has better social skills than Tobirama.
Shikako Nara & Uchiha Madara (DoS)
What I like about Shikako and Madara interacting is that, uh, Shikako is terrified of him and he's the main villain. It's an amazing source of tension between them — tension he can't fully understand the cause of because she's certainly not just going to tell him that he goes totally crazy and murderous and stuff — and something that I'd be really interested in seeing resolved by Shikako learning to see past what she expects to see/experience and actually focus on not-crazy-or-evil-yet Madara! Also they've both got pretty big protective streaks, which I really like.
In terms of a marriage specifically, I love the idea of them having to cohabitate, especially if they both really need the marriage for some reason (eg, to help their clans ally or because Shikako needs access into the village, etc.) and plus I think as they get to know each other Shikako would probably really help balance Madara out.

Blue Castle - L. M. Montgomery
Barney Snaith/Valancy Stirling (Blue Castle - LMM)

Blue Castle is already full of tropey marriage-y goodness for this ship but I just really want more! I would love something canon-compliant or something canon-divergent. I really like the canon setting/time period, but I also definitely won't nitpick anything I read for anachronisms!
I really love how Valancy opens up over the course of the book first on her own and then because she has Barney's love and support. Seeing her get to bust out of her terrible life and leave her awful family behind was great! I also really like the way social classes play a part in the book, and how Valancy looks past them and past other societal pressures, and how eventually it turns out that the class divide in the relationship is actually the reverse of what everyone assumed! I also really like Barney and his insecurities and his complete inability to hear his wife praise his writing to his face, lmfao.
For this one fandom, I am granting an exception to my "no AUs" DNW — I would enjoy a fantasy or in space take on this fandom! I still DNW other AUs, however.

- If he is her second husband, I would enjoy him knowing that her first marriage was rough from the outset or slowly discovering it!
- Valancy approaches Barney about marrying her in a different way or a more desperate situation — or even, for the "arranged marriage bought out by someone else", doesn't even know she's asking for Barney's help when she mentions the situation.
- Maybe Barney has to support her to help pay for a divorce, or maybe she needs emotional support, or maybe he needs to knock the dude out and steal his ring! Or maybe something else, go wild!
Log Horizon
Akatsuki/Shiroe (Log Horizon)
This pairing has it all! Friends for a long time...Akatsuki's loyalty kink....Shiroe indulging her....I bet he used to play along with her roleplaying, too, because he is a nice boy who started playing Elder Tales as a glass canon so that he'd interact with more people. I love these two as friends, I love them as lovers, and I would love to see them be married!

Shiroe & Rayneshia El-Arte Corwen (Log Horizon), Shiroe/Rayneshia El-Arte Corwen (Log Horizon)
These ships surprised me in the tagset but I want these two characters to be married now with the need of ten thousand burning suns who all need things. And the reason I need it? First of all, the politics. Second of all, Shiroe's ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE reputation. Everyone thinks he's some kind of black villain! Delicious. Also, Rayneshia really wants to start making a difference and helping people and what better way to do that than with an Adventurer, right?
I'd love anything that digs into Lander vs Adventurer tensions or just Lander politics in general, as well as anything about the fact that Shiroe is a Half-Alv! Also, I'd love something that emphasizes that Shiroe is a very very good strategist and excellent at tactics but he doesn't have training for matters of state/politics, while Rayneshia probably does. They could really complement each other, and I like the idea of Rayneshia getting to teach Shiroe things!
In terms of platonic vs romantic, I don't have any preference! Rayneshia is about 14-15 in canon, so I don't really see Shiroe being into her at that point and , but I'd love to see her aged up or for this to take place several years after the Catastrophe! Or even for your fic to cover/summarize several years, I suppose.
