Hello, thank you for reading my letter! A few notes:

• I'm a slow commenter, so please don't panic if it takes awhile for me to comment.
• Some things will have more prompts than others but that doesn't mean I want anything more or less than anything else.
• Although I try to provide a lot of prompts please don't feel like you need to write one of them! I think prompts make it easier to see where I'm coming from/how I'm approaching the tag, but this letter is not a final summation of all the fic plots I could possibly enjoy. Whatever you come up with will be great!

DNWs

Hatake Kakashi & Nara Shikako (DoS)

Kakashi and Shikako's relationship is one of my favorite parts of DoS! Watching Shikako slowly learn to decipher him has been wonderful and their conversations are some of my absolute favorites.

I know that we're all pretty aware that Kakashi's loyalty to his students is extraordinary but I would just LOVE anything where we get to see Kakashi taking it to extremes. Like, committing treason at the drop of a hat without question! Helping Shikako go missing nin! Searching for her long after she's been declared KIA! Meeting an alternate universe Shikako and being like "...yes you still count as my student, how can I help you." And I'd also love anything that explores how Shikako feels exactly the same way — would go to exactly the same extreme lengths for Kakashi — and I wonder if Kakashi really realizes that, you know?

In terms of dimension travel/Gardens, I would enjoy pretty much anything. In either case I would enjoy Shikako and Kakashi meeting AU versions of themselves or traveling together! I like dimension travel stories where the characters have to stay and where they get to go home pretty evenly. It'd be interesting to see something where Shikako and Kakashi are the same age!

Also, in terms if my "No AUs" DNW, I will opt-in to any societal change AU that can be easily extrapolated from the Warring Clans Era state of things where there are still ninja — a No Villages AU, say, would be fine!

For time loops, I like timeloops where the characters have to work together to undo it! Shikako or Kakashi or both in the time loop sounds great — I'd be particularly interested for Kakashi to be the one looping and to be surprised at Shikako taking the time loop think 100% in stride.

Hatake Kakashi/Tenzou (DoS)

Tenzō and Kakashi's messy disaster friendship in DoS is WONDERFUL and I would just love to see a little shippiness added to it! I am absolutely a sucker for all kinds of misunderstandings and Tenzō angst and watching Kakashi actually trying to comfort someone is always a good time. I'd love to see Kakashi struggling with Tenzō's ROOT conditioning or just with Tenzō having low self esteem and I'd love to see them taking care of each other.

My bar for things being "shippy enough" is really low — I will take pre-relationship UST casefic or whatever very happily! — but I also wouldn't mind something overtly romantic/sexual. I'd prefer they both be at least 18 for anything that implies they're having sex.

Maito Gai & Mitarashi Anko (DoS)

This is such a wonderful tag! I love that Gai helped Anko train up to become a jōnin and also it destroys me that he was trying to help Aoba, too, and then Aoba died. :(((( Gai really believes in people and is very encouraging and trustworthy and a great teacher, also, so I think his and Anko's interactions are probably really really interesting because I don't think that Anko has gotten very much

Mitarashi Anko & Nara Shikako (DoS)

Okay, so at this point you might be thinking, wow, I really like Anko. And you would be right. She's great. I really love that Sunshine Sidestories where she has to talk to Inoichi and thinks Orochimaru's work is going to be pinned on her because she's had such a hard time with the village since Orochimaru defected, and I love thinking about how much Anko's life turned around once Tsunade took the Hat and Shikako started meddling. I also love that Shikako definitely does not realize that that happened. Just. Absolutely no idea, honestly, she probably doesn't even realize that Anko is only a jōnin because Shikako has changed things around and invented the Kunoichi club and stuff.

..but none of that tells you what I want! I want them to train together, or do a mission together, or recover from doing a mission together. An AU where Anko was the one who went to Hot Springs with Shikako, some time travel trouble, some casefic! Or maybe Anko trying to show her appreciation, or asking for help with something. Even something where Shikako realizes how many people don't trust Anko and has, like, NO chill over it. Or maybe a missing scene from the police arc...? I dunno, just. Anko! Anko! Anko! [chants]

Mitarashi Anko/Yamashiro Aoba (DoS)

I ship this very hard based off of them drunkenly following Shikako around and also Anko's totally heartwrenching talk about them depending on each other behind enemy lines and please I am dying for literally anything with this rarepair. He's really social and she's really isolated! She's frequently under suspicion of being a traitor and he's extremely popular, trust, and well-liked! Both of them do very well under Tsunade! I'm overwhelmed with feelings. I'd love something set in the past or something set in an AU where Aoba lives.

My bar for things being "shippy enough" is really low — I will take pre-relationship UST casefic or whatever very happily! — but I also wouldn't mind something overtly romantic/sexual. I'd prefer they both be at least 18 for anything that implies they're having sex.

Morino Ibiki & Nara Shikako (DoS)

Ibiki and Shikako's friendship is one of my absolute favorite things about DoS. The way she gets his jokes! The way other people react to them hanging out! It's so beautiful. I also like that Ibiki has definitely looked at Shikako in ways most other people haven't, because he's had to consider if... y'know....she's torturing people for fun...anyway I'd love literally anything with them in the same scene, but here's some ideas!

• Ibiki's POV of being handed Hidan's talking, severed head. What was the discussion with Tsunade/Shikaku/Inoichi/Chouza/other T&I members like?
• Time/dimension traveling Shikako saves Ibiki from being tortured by Rokushō Aoi
• Outside POV of their friendship!
• They go on a mission together! Ibiki finally understands all of Aoba's complaints.

Nara Shikako & Sai (DoS)

Sai is so sad and I just want a fic that rolls around in how sad he is and then makes him feel better, and the best way I can think for that to happen is to have Shikako bust right past all his sad expectations and give him stuff he didn't even think to hope for. Like, obviously Sai and Shikako have real friendship feelings between them, but does Sai even realize that? I mean, logically, given what he must have been taught in ROOT, isn't he possibly thinking that when Shikako finishes investigating ROOT she'll just let Sai get executed as a traitor?

And even outside of that, Shikako's such a good teammate! And she and Naruto badger him into sleeping that one time! And look, I'm just full of emotions about them, you know? They've got such a wonderful thing going on.

Nara Shikako & Senju Tobirama (DoS)

• I think that Shikako and Tobirama both possess some really similar personality traits, like... ruthlessness and wanting to fix/invent things where they see a need. On the other hand, Shikako is... charismatic? Friendly? so they've definitely had really wildly different experiences. I don't know where I was going with this! Probably trying to explain why I like this match up.
• I'd prefer Shikako traveling back in time or further reincarnation for her over Tobirama traveling into the present. A minor preference for Shikako still being a Nara if she's reborn, but do whatever you think will make for a good story!
• One of my favorite moments for Shikako's ruthlessness is when she kills the Sound team in the Forest of Death because it was easy and it would make herself and her team safe and she just didn't think the cost of their lives was worth the risk to her and Naruto and Sasuke's life. I think that that kind of calculous over taking a life probably isn't the kind of thing Tobirama has ever had space for in his life, at least not until the village is founded, so... I guess I'd just like anything where Shikako's ethics run up against Tobirama's pragmatic, horrific Warring Clans Era experience, because I think that they might fundamentally disagree on principles but still reach an immediate and obvious-to-them agreement on whatever the practical matter at hand is?
• (Oh, hey, that's where that first part was going!)

Nara Shikako & Uchiha Shisui (DoS)

• I'm sure it surprises absolutely no one that I want these two.
• I like them as platonic or romantic!
• They go on a mission together, or meet on a mission?
• Shikako has to deliver the unfortunate news that ghosts are real and, also, they are being haunted and, also also, she's not sure how to kill a ghost. Yet, She's working on it.
• In ANBU together! Accidentally time traveling together!
• Any situation where one of them teaches the other something. Or even where one of them like, is the other's jōnin-sensei?

Nara Shikako & Yamashiro Aoba (DoS)

Aoba is a really wonderful mentor character for Shikako and I just think he's neat! I'd love something that shows more of them working together, especially his POV of being her mentor in Intelligence. Was that a big deal for him? Why or why not? Also, did they ever train together? What kind of trouble did they get into on their missions, and was Shikako doing that thing where she casually rises above expectations and doesn't realize the people watching are impressed?

I'd also love to read something with time and dimension travel. How do they go about solving being stuck in the past — what do they agree/disagree on? Any time period would be great! Does Shikako being a Nara help or hurt them? Do they get home? Is Aoba overwhelmed with the possibilities presented by being an intelligence ninja stuck in the past?

Finally I'd love absolutely anything that fixes Aoba's death, please, I am dying for it, I am still so sad. :'''(

Mitarashi Anko (DoS) & Momochi Zabuza (Naruto)

Alright. Okay. Listen. Listen. We don't actually see Anko and Zabuza them interacting during the Mist arc, but they must have, right? Anko got to see Zabuza being a teacher and learn he's in charge of the Mist academy and probably shit talk him about her team being awesome. Maybe they're not friends but they're not not friends! Plus absolutely everyone probably knows all of the details about the Land of Wave mission because that was such a fuck up of mission intel.

...what I'm saying is, Anko is uniquely positioned to meet Naruto!Zabuza and be like, "Hey, it's that guy who's great with kids!", which is in my opinion a really really interesting set up for character interactions. \o/

So, okay:

• No preference for who goes in which direction or in what manner.
• Anko throws herself back in time but whoops lands in a universe without Shikako where everything is sucky — but at least she can bust Tazuna and get herself assigned to go to Wave where she can try to help their future alliance with Mist along?
• Anko needs help rescuing one or more of her kids (or her kids need help rescuing her) and Zabuza gets roped into it, maybe while being mistaken for DoS!Zabuza.
• Zabuza needs help rescuing Haku and Anko is happy to help.
• Zabuza's been contracted to assassinate someone and is undercover trying to make that happen...and for some reason this Konoha ninja is helping him.
• Zabuza's been contracted to assassinate someone and Anko's been assigned to a similar mission and insists they work together.
• Anko is the one undercover and she's trying to kill Gatou; Zabuza helps.
• Anko and Zabuza are sent back in time to try and avert a terrible future, but the time travel technique is misaimed so A) Anko ends up in a universe with no Shikako and B) when she goes to make contact with Zabuza he has no clue who she is or what she wants.
• Zabuza is powerless or at Anko's mercy and she helps/spares him because she knows they could be friends and it'd be better for him to live and overhaul Mist's education system.

Morino Ibiki (Naruto) & Nara Shikako (DoS)

Basically the same as my DoS!Ibiki section above except that Shikako is a total stranger to him, omg. Delicious!

• They meet out in the field and Ibiki suspects or knows she isn't really a Konoha ninja. Maybe she fucks up a passcode, maybe he just knows every Nara, maybe she's not even trying to hide it! He thinks they're enemies. Maybe he has to depend on her to save some teammates or get himself out of a bad spot? Maybe she needs his help and he goes along with it because he's down to play dangerous mind games?
• They meet in an interrogation room. Who's on which side of the interrogation? Shikako being interrogated by Ibiki is fun, of course, but I'm equally interested in Ibiki being the one who's out of place! (I don't know what kind of excuse you'd use to have Shikako be the one to interrogate Naruto!Ibiki...maybe DoS!Ibiki thinks it's a good idea?)
• They meet after Shikako's worked out the problems with being in the Naruto version of Konoha. A more friendly situation! Shikako can't help but treat him like she'd treat DoS!Ibiki.

Nara Shikako (DoS) & Momochi Zabuza (Naruto)

I'm really really into the idea of Shikako meeting people to whom she's a stranger and Naruto!Zabuza just seems like a wonderful choice because the way she likes and trusts DoS!Zabuza is already strange enough.

• They meet while imprisoned together and have to rely on each other.
• Shikako saves him and Haku in Land of Wave.
• Shikako joins the Mist Rebellion.
• Out on a mission, Shikako runs into this version of Zabuza who doesn't recognise her.
• Naruto!Zabuza travels back into his younger self after dying in Wave and is eventually VERY confused to find Shikako there instead of a pink haired girl. Weird!
• Any situation where Shikako trusts or helps Zabuza way more than she should.
• Naruto!Haku welcome!

This is one of my very favorite short Naruto fics and I reread it a lot! I find the world building really interesting and Natsume very compelling. I'd love to see pretty much any elaboration on her business practices, personal life, etc. Does her secretary in the story end up making it in the business? Who's the most difficult customer Natsume's ever worked with? What's the closest she's ever come to dying? Is there anyone she won't work with? Has she ever stuck her neck out for anyone? I'm also fascinated by the brief mention of how the destruction of Uzushiogakure caused problems for her village! Basically I will take any kind of elaboration on this wonderful fic that you're inclined to give.

Please feel free to use any characters you want even if I haven't requested them — maybe something about how Natsume works with Konoha sometimes under the table?. I also like canon divergent AUs about characters becoming missing nin due to misunderstandings or being framed, although I'm not that into characters being evil or being secretly undercover as evil. (Well, except Itachi's whole thing, but that's not an AU!)

I'm definitely more interested in worldbuilding or plot than shipfic when it comes to Natsume, but exploring Natsume might mean exploring her romantic or sexual relationships! M/F and/or F/F is fine if you want to explore that. It might be fun to see someone like her deal with shipfic tropes in an extremely pragmatic (and profitable!) manner.

In terms of content and ratings, I don't want explicit sex scenes or graphic depictions of torture, but I'm fine with an M rating and discussion of human trafficking, medical experimentation, or whatever else you might think a person who works with missing nin professionally might run into. Not that you have to include any of that! A lower rating is also fine.

Here are things in Sanitize that are DIRECT AND UNFAIR HITS TO MY ID, THANK YOU:

• That thing all the ninja do where they know civilians consider them monsters and you can tell they're upset about it but it's usually all squished down under being threatening and rude and angry. (Looking at YOU Izuna, WOW.)
• That thing Yui does where she sees right through all that and treats the ninja like people instead of monsters and expects the best from them!!!! She makes friends!! :D
• People not killing each other EXTREMELY grudgingly because they share a goal, ally, or both.
• In general, people having disagreements that aren't resolved or settled immediately.
• Yui sticking to her ideals and giving medical attention to everyone and refusing to make it her problem that people don't like or understand it.
• The sense of progress in Chiyuuku and the way it's slowly ramped up from a tiny village of no note to a proper down basically entirely on Yui's hard work and ideals.
• The peasant/noble divide, the aforementioned civilian/noble divide, the way Yui's place a as a poor peasant woman isn't ignored but also isn't belabored — Yui has a lot of agency and doesn't let anyone stand on her way for long, but she also can't completely ignore the society she lives in and often feels awkward about her peasant accent and lack of vocab and stuff! I love that. I eat it up with a spoon.
• Other things that I am definitely forgetting.

Inuzuka Kon & Uchiha Madara & Yui (Sanitize)

I love Kon a lot for being one of the youngest ninja we see, and I think that this tag is fascinating because, alright, Madara has...been around kids... like Izuna... and himself... I mean the clan has kids....but that's different from spending lots of time around a kid like Kon!

What I'd most love is for them to have to work together or spend time together, basically. I think with Yui in the tag some kind of hurt/comfort makes sense! Madara helping Kon to Yui or the other way around...but I would also take them arriving separately and just having, like, a really awkward but interesting conversation over tea!

Also, I'm not really concerned with all three of them being in the same scene at the same time — I'd be happy for a story where Kon and Madara see Yui individually and also meet each other.

Senju Hashirama/Yui (Sanitize)

I really love Hashirma's idealism and how much hope he finds in interacting with Yui. I love that she's completing one of his goals ahead of him and he's so excited to learn! I also really love how much we see his exhaustion and how clearly his profession weighs on him. I think he's probably much more open about that with Yui than he ever has been with anyone else, and that having someone validate his feelings is probably really, immensely valuable to him. Also she saved his brother's life!!!! Meanwhile, she's just as glad to know someone who's idealistic, and appreciates his help, and learns so much from him. A really big draw for me for this ship is just the sense that they make life a lot easier for each other and that they enjoy each other's company. I'd love anything about them navigating their relationship, building better places together, disagreeing, etc. In terms of tropes I would love slow burn friends-to-lovers, or a rescue, or different first meeting.

Tsubaki & Hatake Rui & Yamanaka Emigiku & Nara Shikari (Sanitize)

The extremely careful interactions in that extra were SO GOOD. I want more really bad, maybe from a different perspective, or maybe with higher stakes? I'd love to see them work together to solve a problem, or for one group to help the other, especially from Hatake, Emigiku, or Shikari's point of view. The suspicious, wary tension between them is just amazing. Obviously there are all kind of things ninja can help with — rescues and the like! — but I would also be very interested in anything where Tsubaki being a merchant or where her good reputation or something lets her help Emigiku and Shikari in a way they don't expect.

Tsubaki/Hatake (Sanitize)

That civilian vs ninja dynamic is extremely fascinating to me and I would love anything that digs into that via this ship — I like Hatake being protective and I love Tsubaki being a, extremely competent businesswoman and I am fascinated by thinking about how they ever got close enough to be involved. I mean, presumably largely by Tsubaki treating Hatake like a person and Hatake being a very excellent bodyguard, but still! I'd love hurt/comfort, also, or something about the Hatake clan, or even a sort of casefic deal about what a typical business trip is like for them.

Uchiha Madara/Yui (Sanitize)

In the scene were they first meet Yui takes a lot of notice of what Madara looks like, how intense he is, how he's noticeably different from other ninja she's met. We also get to see that Madara is kind of...not good at socializing, lmao. This is clearly not a social situation he's had much practice in....or if he has, it hasn't been with people like Yui. Like, I love that their first interaction is just Madara totally fucking up left and right — intimidating her when he doesn't have to, accidentally threatening to kidnap her, sticking his fingers in her ointment, criticising her info sec, jumping to the conclusion that she's insulting his honor, oh my god. She's just so clearly not what he expected and Izuna has to carry the conversation a bunch because Madara is busy accidentally scaring the shit out of her. I feel in love with this depiction of Madara immediately and I love all the scenes where he and Yui debate things like what's worth giving up for peace. It's more contentious than Yui's relationship with Hashirama, and I really really love that. In terms of tropes I would love slow burn with lots of debate, or a rescue, or different first meeting.

In addition to everything I've already babbled about, omg, they're both SO protective of her after that bandit attack and Yui is like, actively accidentally working to bring their clans to peace without the big mess of canon. I think Yui has a clarity of purpose and philosophy that Hashirama and Madara don't quite have yet — they're both idealistic, but she's the only person who's absolutely sure that peace is possible. She's also the only one of the three who's really directly living her philosophy every day by giving free medical care to literally anyone, despite the danger to herself and the absolutely terrible business sense of it all.

I would love to see these three interacted at the same time in the same place without any romance, but I also really ship all character combinations here including of course all three of them together. Please feel free to mix 'n' match as you see fit rather than sticking specifically to these tags, as long as they're all in the same room at some point.

In terms of plot, I would love something where Hashirama and Madara have to work together to save or protect Yui, or something where Yui needs help from one of them to help the other!

Let's get the gen vs. ship explanation out of the way: either is fine! Either is really, truly, absolutely fine! I once described myself as "unreasonably thirsty for Tobirama," and that's pretty much why I nominated Yui/Tobirama. They've only spoken twice so it has nowhere near the shippy vibes of Yui/Hashirama or Yui/Madara but Tobirama's my fave and thus here we are. Below I will describe some things I would be happy to see 100% gen, or a little shippy, or a lot shippy. Live your Tobirama-y dreams!

I think seeing more interaction between them could be really interesting because Tobirama compared to Hashirama, Madara, and Izuna, Tobirama has probably had the least interaction with Yui and Yui's philosophy — he may or may not sometimes be the one to come to get medicine for the clan from her, but we only get to see two conversations between them and in both Tobirama is pretty reserved. I would love to see them spend enough time together to actually get to a good debate, although I also wonder if Tobirama even would directly debate with her on most points? I think from what we see of him in the fic he's probably pretty used to debates not getting him anywhere with Hashirama, and it seems like he might prefer watching and occasionally asking pointed questions. Overall I see Tobirama as a very pragmatic person who works extremely hard to be unemotional and logical about things, which really makes him different from Hashirama and Madara and Izuna...but maybe you disagree! One of the really fun things about requesting my favorite character is getting to see people's different interpretations, so if you disagree I'd love a fic exploring that!

I'd like to see Tobirama coming into more contact with Yui because Hashirama has delegated it to him. I'd like to see Tobirama delivering help to Yui's clinic, or protecting Yui more (was my id very excited when Tobirama sensed Izuna coming and made Yui get behind him For Protection? YES.) or even rescuing her! Tobirama is engaged, supposedly, but we don't have much detail around that — who is she? Could Yui meet her? Maybe the engagement falls through, or something! Does Tobirama want to be married? What would Tobirama's wife-to-be think about Tobirama suddenly spending a lot of time around this unmarried civilian woman without being paid for it?

Yui & Uchiha Izuna (Sanitize)

Sanitize!Izuna is my favorite Izuna ever. I love him like I've never loved an Izuna ever before. I like that he's not very likeable at all. More personable than Madara, better in that first social interaction, less likely to accidentally scare the shit out of someone....but also more likely to do it deliberately. I've always loved Izunas best when they're being incredibly stubborn, die-hard assholes and this one is both a prime example (that rant where he accuses her of profiteering because that's the only explanation that makes sense to him in his worldview!) and extremely satisfying because Yui is just as stubborn in her own way and sticks to her philosophical guns just as hard as Izuna did and now, in recent chapters, we've seen that even though Izuna hasn't gotten any more likely to forgive anyone for anything, he's certainly softened a little towards Yui.

Anyway, I could ramble about the characters all day but you're here to wonder what I want! More or less I'm down for any kind of interaction, but I'm especially interested in the part in Chapter 11 where Yui observes that they're now cordial with each other but she doesn't ever think that they'll be friends. Do you think that that's true? Do you think Izuna feels the same way — I mean, he probably wouldn't put it in terms of friendship, but does he feel that they'll always dislike each other but will be cordial because they're useful to each other, or are his feelings more complex? Whether you do or not, I am a big sucker for ninja protecting Yui and an even bigger sucker for people who don't agree being forced to work together.

This letter is so long already and I should really, like, sign up....here are just a few bullet points about these crossovers that I nominated:

• Time travel or reincarnation would both be great. Generally I prefer time travel backwards, but I think Yui traveling forwards in time could be really interesting, especially with Tsunade involved!
• When it comes to time travel backwards, I really like when the time travel is a secret for at least a little while — I think it's interesting for the characters of the past to have to struggle to understand the future character's actions without the context of time travel!
• Would love to see Shikako interact with literally any Sanitize character, even the very minor ones.
• Yui talking medicine with Sakura, Tsunade, or Shikako would be incredibly satisfying. Shikako probably carries medical texts around in hammerspace because she has everything in there.
• If you go with a reincarnated Shikako, I would prefer it be further reincarnation (after DoS canon) rather than alternate reincarnation (instead of DoS canon). I like Shikako as a Nara when she's reincarnated in WCE, but if you have a different idea please go for it! If she is a Nara, maybe Shikari tells her about Yui and Shikako stops by to talk herbs or medical seals...?
• I...was too lazy to nominate DoS!Sakura separately from Naruto!Sakura but I'll take her too.
• Sasuke is INSTANTLY recognizable as an Uchiha — he looks so damn Izuna-y — so I think him going back in time and meeting Yui would be really interesting because it would probably come out really quickly that he's an Uchiha that's not from the clan.
• Oh yeah, Kakashis. I love Kakashi. He could meet Yui, and maybe Hatake and Tsubaki. Yui could accidentally discover he has a Sharingan implant! Gosh, the tension.
